Comparing between closed headphone and open headphone

As I or anyone who study audio engineering we should have to have a headphone, not just a headphone, also not only for enjoying music or movie. We need flat headphone which headphone can bring equal sound from very low to very high frequency. However, there are a lot of headphones released in the store. Also nowadays we have wireless headphones which has no need cable to make more comfortable to listen music. Therefore, today I am going to explain about headphone by types.

Headphone had many different types, but I am talking about headphone type with close, open, and semi-open.

First, I am going to talk about closed headphone. The most focus for closed headphone is "isolation". It makes isolate from all sound between sound from headphone and out side of sound, so it fits with studio monitoring headphone for liveroom with artist. Moreover, when recording time condenser microphone could capture sound from headphone, but if artist use it, it can prevent that happening.

Second, I am gong to talk about open headphone. Open headphone is allowing air and sound to pass between outside of headphone and inside of it. The most benefit is natural feeling. Through the air and sound passing headphone cup, it makes more natural feeling with source sound and ambiance sound. In my opinion it is better to enjoying music. I am going to list up some good open headphones.

Finally, I will explain about semi-open headphone one that I prefer. It is aiming to make balance between clear sound and isolation. It often feature with grille back or closed cup. AKG K240 is the most popular semi-open headphone.

In conclusion, there a lot of types of headphones with numerous brands. If any one want to buy a headphone you need to consider headphone type such as closed, open, or semi-open, then you can thinking about your budget, prefer brand, and design.
